The Union of South Africa is an anomalous country which it is difficult to caricature. None the less Anthony Delius, a prominent South African poet and journalist, produced in 1959 a satirical verse fantasy (at the expense not only of the Nationalists but of the Opposition) which was so explosive that it was quoted and argued about in the Union Parliament
