Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler 4: The American Years
When Hitler came to power in 1933, both composers were forced to leave Germany. Weill arrived in the United States in 1935, and began on the path which was to lead him to
Broadway. After several brief visits, Eisler settled in America in 1937 and, as well as continuing his collaboration with Brecht, composed film scores and chamber music. In 1947 he was brought before the Committee on un-American Activities, was served with a deportation order, and left in 1948. Records
