Brian Redhead continues his journey through the Middle Ages with a footslogging
2,000 mile trek to Jerusalem.
He starts in a field in France on 27 November 1095 listening to Odo de Lagery, Pope Urban II, preaching the First Crusade. On the way he meets a holy goat, the great Schism of 1054, an infernal ladder, some hooliganism, a god whose logical existence was nearly proved, and several thousand dead horses.
