Jessie

on BBC One London

written and directed by BRYAN FORBES
Peter, the 6-year-old son of Mr and Mrs Edmonds , has been dumb since birth, although one suspects not through any physical disablement. Jessie, the new maid and niece of the cook, arrives on the day of the christening party for Mr and Mrs Edmonds ' new baby son, a perfectly normal and healthy child. Jessie, having been brought up in London's East End, is well equipped to handle Peter, and she forms an inspiring and gentle relationship with him.
