Leap of Faith

on BBC One London

Satirical drama starring
Steve Martin
Debra Winger , Liam Neeson
Jonas Nightengale puts on quite a show, preaching and performing
"miracles" wherever his tent is pitched. Behind the scenes, he is really a cynical con man aiming to fleece the faithful, aided by a well-drilled crew underthe watchful eye of his assistant Jane. However, theirarrival in the small, drought-stricken town of Rustwater, Kansas, marks a turning point in Jonas's criminal career, for he is intrigued by a waitress who rebuffs his advances, while he and Jane tackle the sheriff who hopes the show does not go on. Director Richard Pearce (1992, PG)
