Shortly after the Second World War Henry Williamson spotted in The Adelphi magazine some verses by James Farrar. Farrar had lost his life in a Mosquito aircraft over the English Channel in July 1944, three months before his 21st birthday, leaving behind him a whole host of poems, short stories and a journal of his wartime experiences in the RAF.
"I felt the Indefinable shock of reality in the pages," wrote Williamson.
He collected the material together and published it. Christopher Palmer presents a selection from the writings of James Farrar.
