Songs of Praise: from Dumfries

on BBC One London

Dumfries, the queen of the south of Scotland, is this year celebrating its octocentenary as a burgh. Cliff Michelmore pays a return visit to a town he first saw in 1940 on his way back from the war in France. He meets Andrew Ratnam, a Tamil Christian living in exile, from Sri Lanka. Wilson Ogilvie talks to Cliff about one of Dumfries's most celebrated citizens, Robert Burns. Local Christians join together in the Crichton Memorial Church with the Dumfries Girls Choir.

The Lord will come (Montrose); Jesus calls us (St Andrew); Jesus, good above all other (Quern Pastores Laudavere); The man in life wherever placed (Jackson); The Lord of heaven confess (St John): Gabriel's message; O Jesus, I have promised (Day of Rest); Tell out, my soul (Woodlands)
