Live coverage of the opening ceremony of the 16th Commonwealth Games, from Kuala Lumpur, introduced by Steve Rider.
David Coleman commentates on the proceedings at the Bukit Jalil Main Stadium in the Malaysian capital, which officially open the 13-day event featuring 17 different sports. The games will be opened by the Malaysian monarch, King Tuanku, in the company of HRH Prince Edward, president of the Commonwealth Games Federation, with the ceremony entertainments including a parachute display, a cultural show reflecting the history and achievements of the host nation, and the traditional march past of competing nations.
