THE LONG DECLINE

on Third Programme

DONALD MACRAE , Reader in Sociology in the University of London, believes that Britain has lost her position and self-confidence in relation to her own past. He suggests that the explanation of this decline is not to be found merely in the economic and technical aspects of our life; rather is it to be explained as the consequence of ideas and values which were the myths of an age that could afford not to face social reality.
