4—' Hedges and Trees '
F. W. COSTIN , N.D.H., F.R.H.S.
In these days of house building and land development the care of the trees and hedges of the countryside and the roadside trees of our towns becomes more than ever the vital concern of everyone.
The trees and hedges of today are a heritage from the planters of the past; we all must bear a part in maintaining them in health and vigour, pruning and attending to them in an understanding way; safeguarding them against mutilation, and when the time comes for replacement, planting again with knowledge and skill.
' Plant a tree ; it will grow while you sleep ' it has been said..... The planting, care, and management of trees and hedges is to be the main theme in this talk.
