This year marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of Jerome Kern and the 50th anniversary of his death. Brian Matthew presents a portrait of the composer including selections from his best-loved scores for stage and screen, such as Show Boat, Roberta and Swing
Time. Also featured is a less well-known side of Kern - that of writer of orchestral scores for the concert hall, and the programme ends with his symphonic poem Mark Twain.
