Highland Music

on Regional Programme Scotland

View in Radio Times

Relayed from
The Ness Islands, Inverness
THE HIGHLAND STRATHSPEY and REEL SOCIETY
THE INVERNESS BRITISH LEGION PIPE
AND DRUM BAND
(Aberdeen Programme)
This is the first broadcast from the Ness Islands and as the concert comes from the capital of the Highlands, it is appropriate that the music should all be of a Highland and Scottish character. The Ness Islands form the pleasure ground of Inverness-an expanse of tree-covered parkland surrounded by the River Ness. There are winding paths and leafy glades, and everywhere you will hear the sound of running water ; and in the centre there is a bandstand or little open-air theatre in which this evening's broadcast is taking place.
