The Back of Beyond
A short story by W. SOMERSET MAUGHAM dramatised for broadcasting by Howard Agg with Patrick Barr and Mary Wimbush
Tom Saffary and his wife, Violet, were leading members of the British Colony in Malaya before the Second World War. They were apparently happy and successful-until news reached them of the death of Knobby Clarke. The difference this made to their lives forms the basis of tonight's play.
Cast in order of speaking
Production by Audrey Cameron
A new production of the play originally broadcast on October 31. 1964
