Salman Rushdie is one of the most respected authors of our era. His novel Midnight's Children was awarded the Booker McConnell prize for fiction in 1981. His next novel Shame also topped the best-sellers list for many weeks.
In July 1986, Salman Rushdie was invited by Sandinista Association of Cultural
Workers to visit Nicaragua.
The trip inspired the novelist to write his first book in three years, The Jaguar Smile. He talks to Peter GUI about the book and his visit.
