With Donald Macleod.
In his final years Hummel wrote a series of piano studies and a piano method which encapsulated his experience as a pianist and teacher. His pupils included some of the great pianistic names of the early 19th century, with the exception of Liszt, who was not willing to pay Hummel's high lesson fees. When Hummel died in 1837, his estate was valued at £20,000 - a measure of his phenomenal success.
