Manchester United v. Arsenal
A commentary by Alan Clarke during the second half
From Old Trafford, Manchester
This week there are three Association Football matches on the air in the Light Programme. Both today and tomorrow there are matches involving a Lancashire v. London rivalry. The first is between Manchester United and Arsenal, and the other between Liverpool and Chelsea. For both games the commentator is Alan Clarke. Today's game brings together two of the leading clubs in the First Division, either of whom might pull off the Championship, and this should obviously be a vital match. When the teams met last year, Manchester United won both games -two nil at home and one nil away. The other match brings together the present League leaders, Liverpool-who might so far claim to be the team of the year, and mercurial Chelsea. Last season when these two teams met it was a draw at
Liverpool, and Chelsea won at home 2-1.
On Saturday there is a match between two teams standing fairly close together in .the middle of the table, Aston Villa and Newcastle United, two of the greatest names in football history. The match, on the Aston Villa ground, will be described by Raymond Glendenning.
