Robert Wilson (tenor)
The strings of the BBC Scottish
Orchestra
Leader, J. Mouland Begbie
Conducted by Ian Whyte
Robert Wilson is one of the most popular of all singers of Scottish songs and tonight's recital will have a wide audience.
He has had great experience of different kinds of singing. His ambition made him give up work as an engineering draughtsman in Motherwell after he had won trophies at Scottish musical festivals. In 1030 he joined the famous Rothesay Entertainers for their summer season and later toured the principal Scottish cities with them. Next year he walked straight into the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and has performed with them in Britain and the U.S.A.
