Between 1878 and 1880 Bruckner radically revised his still unperformed Fourth Symphony, replacing the Scherzo and drastically reconstructing the other three movements. His first thoughts remained unperformed until 1975; earlier this year Hess Radio mounted another performance of this first (1874) version, played by the RADIO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, FRANKFURT conducted by ELIAHU INBAL.
