Tyrone, Londonderry, Fermanagh, Down have been counties visited in the last six months, and it is now the turn of Antrim, the town chosen being Ballymoney, away past Ballymena, on the road from Belfast to Coleraine.

It is an agricultural market town of no great size but of great industry, brewing, distilling, tanning, soap, candles keeping the townfolk occupied, to say nothing of the linen manufacture common to the whole county. Its industry, individuality, history, local talent are to be explored and presented to listeners tonight.

Enagh and Cross, two townlands, preserve the ancient name of Aenach-Cross, the 'fair of the crosses', and they suggest that in bygone days this may have been the scene of ancient games and festivals.

Of the famous people Ballymoney has produced, the two McBride brothers are worthy of special mention: John, who was an admiral in Nelson's day, and David, a physician, who gave Captain Cook a remedy for scurvy. And a short walk away is the birthplace of James McKinley, grandfather of President McKinley of the United States...
