Omnibus: The Leeds International Piano Competition

on BBC One London

Remember Radu Lupu? Rafael Orozco? Michael Roll? All past winners of this famous triennial event, they are all now well-known concert artists. Last night, at the same moment as the Proms drew to a triumphant close, another winner was chosen by a celebrated international jury from up to a hundred hopeful young pianists gathered together in Leeds from all over the world. Tonight Omnibus covers the events leading up to the prize-giving and includes highlights from the final concert in Leeds Town Hall, featuring piano concertos played by the finalists with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra conductor Charles Groves
