This stylish thriller based on RAYMOND CHANDLER 'S novel shows the famous Los Angeles detective Philip Marlowe brought defiantly into the 1970s. Elliott Gould stars as Marlowe who, while attempting to help a friend accused of murder, finds mysteries, a suicide and blackmail complicating the issue before the final, deadly confrontation.
