Sunday Feature: Our Man in Berlin

on BBC Radio 3

L Richard Morrison charts Simon Rattle 's first months in charge of one of the world's finest orchestras. The Berlin Philharmonic is steeped in the tradition of Karajan, but with Rattle the orchestra is going through a revolution. He has introduced new music by Thomas Ades , has taken a different look at the standard repertoire of Mahler and Stravinsky, and has begun an ambitious education programme. Producer Jessica Isaacs
