Yesterday 25 competitors from around the world arrived in Cardiff, ready to vie for the title of Cardiff Singer of the World, or to try their hand at the coveted Song Prize. This week Humphrey Burton introduces highlights of the finals of this year's competition, held at St David's Hall.
Today's programme covers last night's first concert, with competitors from
Canada, England, Romania, USA and Slovakia. They are accompanied by the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, conducted by Jean-Yves Ossonce.
