Match of the Day - Live: AS Roma v Liverpool

on BBC One London

Live coverage from the Olympic Stadium, kickoff 8pm, as AS Roma take on Liverpool in this Uefa Cup fourth round, first leg tie, a rerun of 1984's dramatic European Cup final.
Introduced by Gary Lineker, with analysis from Liverpool alumni Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrenson.

That Fabio Capello's Roma side have led Serie A for much of the season is not surprising if one considers the embarrassment of riches at his disposal. As well as Argentina's Gabriel Batistuta, the side's front line boasts Euro 2000 heroes Francesco Totti and Marco Delvecchio, plus Vincenzo Montella and Japanese star Hidetoshi Nakata.

However, hopes will remain high in the Liverpool camp of securing a strong enough result to make next Thursday's return leg at Anfield more comfortable. Manager Gerard Houllier will look to his enviable England striking trio of Michael Owen, Emile Heskey and Robbie Fowler to spearhead the Reds' challenge. John Motson is in the commentary box alongside summariser Trevor Brooking.
