The Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert

on BBC Radio 3

York Early Music Festival
Mark Rowlinson introduces a final concert from last month's festival.
Today's programme features the Italian vocal and instrumental ensemble Mala Punica making their British concert debut with a sequence of madrigals and dances by the early 15th-century Florentine abbot, diplomat and tenorista Paolo di Marco. Some 40 of his works survive - allegorical madrigals and ballatas, which tell many different stories and carry secret political, philosophical or emotional messages.
