A portrait of the French novelist Alain-Fournier (1886-1914), written and presented by Roger Kendall
Le Grand Meaulnes is one of the most widely-read and best-loved novels of this century. It was published here as The Lost Domain, it was filmed as The Wanderer and it was made into a ballet. In a unique way, it seems to capture a sense of yearning for adolescence, for 'the land without a name'. It reflects the transient pain and joy of its author's unrequited love for Yvonne de Quievrecourt. with contributions from
JOHN FOWLES , MARIAN GILES JONES. MARTIN SORRELL and PROFESSOR ROBERT GIBSON Directed by JOHN THEOCHARIS
