An Everyday Story of Island Folk!

on BBC One London

Recently Sir Rex Hunt , Civil Commissioner of the Falkland Islands, presented the British Empire Medal to some of the men and women of the Islands who helped to keep life there as normal as possible during the Argentinian occupation which began a year ago today. Today's programme talks to eight of those ' ordinary heroes', including Malcolm Ash -worth who kept milk deliveries going, Derek Rozee who kept Stanley's water pure and Mrs Najla Bucket who stuck anti-Argentine cartoons into their vehicles and Jim Fairfield who tampered with communications equipment.
An Everyday Story of Island Folk! is a unique glimpse at the reality of the Falklands war for the , islanders living through the invasion, occupation and the liberation.
