8.50 Earlier this evening, in the Adrian Boult Hall of Birmingham Conservatoire, the ensemble Puspa Nugraha, led by Uking Sukri, played gamelan music from Sunda, the western part of Java. The group performs on a collection of gongs supplemented by the local vertical flute - the suling - and a singer.
