At a lavish Beverly
Hills party, starlet Mary Kingston and her actor
DOYfriend,
George Donaldson , inadvertently overhear an argument between columnist Alex Sebastian and newspaper owner Noel Crossman Jr. When Donaldson is later found dead and Mary is framed for his murder, she employs private investigator Jake Axminster to clear her of the charge. His search for Sebastian - who has mysteriously disappeared - uncovers evidence of a plot that threatens the nation.
