Mr. Owen and Caradoc left for Wales. Mr. Owen told his wife that he had decided to give up the ministry. Maud French, who had returned to Parkwood Hill, was very rude to Mrs. Freeman, and Mrs. Freeman said she never wanted to speak to her again. Sally saw Kate Sylvester and offered to find her a job, but Kate became rather hysterical and refused.
