Star Movie: Gracie Fields in The Show Goes On

on BBC One London

with Owen Nares
Sally Scowcroft is a mill girl from a small Lancashire town with one ambition-to be a singer. Sponsored by a wealthy composer, who at first provides unsuitable material, she eventually becomes a star with an inimitable voice and humorous personality, not far removed from the immortal Gracie herself. This comedy is a fine example of the films which delighted millions in the 1930s and 40s.
