Fairy Tales
With Peggy Reynolds.
5: Scheherazade. Scheherazade was immortalised in music by Rimsky-Korsakov, whose imaginative response to the Arabian Tales of 1001 Nights gave full measure to her oriental magic and mystery. But Scheherazade's ability to put off to the morrow what should rightly happen today has found many a musical echo. Music includes:
Ravel Asie (Sheherazade) Margaret Price (soprano),
London Symphony Orchestra, conductor Claudio Abbado
