The Wood Man

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Bernard Jack is a 'wood man' in two senses: he is fascinated by trees that are living and growing, and also by the fine woods they produce after they are felled. He spends many hours enjoying and cataloguing the trees in his pleasant rural part of Staffordshire, but he is also a craftsman. In his workshop - formerly a railway waiting-room - he restores antique furniture in the original woods, and using the original craftsman's tools.
