A programme for children under five
Nursery rhymes, stories, and music
'Ding-a-dong, Bing-balong,' sing our small Listeners to the chiming tune which' announces their programme. These sounds, we are told, cause even incredibly small babies to smile or wave their hands, and draw their older brothers and sisters in from far away. Most children, it seems however, are already awaiting them, in position,' long before the time-like the girl who, sitting patiently through the preceding concert, sighed at last, When is this music going to stop? I can't wait all the time! '
Occasionally impatience expresses itseif in action. The parents of a small boy wondered why the clock gained fifteen minutes every day, until his mother spotted him putting the big hand on from half-past one to a quarter to two.'
The stories which the chimes will herald this week are two by Joan E. Cass about Wilfred and his dog Ginger, to be told today and tomorrow by Julilee ' Lang; ' Charlie the Cuckoo,' by Monica Jarrett and The Dirty Doll's House,' by Ruth Ainswonth , which ' Daphne Oxenford Lady ' relates on Wednesday and Friday; and ' The Bus Ride,' by Christine Chaundler , on Thursday, with storyteller Dorry Miff. ' All will be introduced by ' Laura Pegroom. ' Elizabeth A. Taylor
