The Last Checkout On the eve of the historic meeting of the spacecraft of two nations that were once considered implacable rivals in space, the crews go through the routines that will bring them to a rendezvous. In Soyuz, the last orbit adjustments. In Apollo, checkout of the unproven Docking Module that will form an airlock between the two spacecraft when they are linked, and a tunnel which the astronauts will pass through on their way to tomorrow's big handshake.
James Burke in the BBC Space Studio looks at the political and technical achievements of the Mission and considers other actual and potential achievements of international co-operation in space.
