Danish State Radio Symphony Orchestra
Conducted by Erik Tuxen and Launy Grondahl
Christian Esbensen (viola)

Finn Hoffding, the least known of the three composers represented in this programme, is a Danish musician, born in 1899, whose most important work is an opera, The Emperor's New Clothes. He has recently composed a choral work The Five Swans, in which, as in his opera, he makes use of effects derived both from folk music and from jazz. 'It's quite true' was written in 1943 and based on a fairy tale by Hans Andersen. (Harold Rutland)
