Pelleas et Melisande

on BBC Radio 3

A lyric drama in five acts by MAURICE MAETERLINCK Music by Debussy (sung in French) direct from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden
Debussy's only opera was inspired by the Belgian playwright Maeterlinck. The story is a legendary one containing all the ingredients of a fairy-tale, and in which, through a shadowy, symbolic and tragic drama, we see its characters submit to fate.
