on BBC Radio 3

Michael Berkeley 's guest today is the Birmingham-based novelist Jim Crace , whose novel Quarantine was shortlisted forthe 1997 Booker Prize and won the 1997 Whitbread Novel Award. He has just published a new novel, Being Dead, to great acclaim. His musical choices include sonatas by Paganini and Poulenc, Alfred Brendel playing Schubert, an unusual arrangement of the Funeral March from Mahler's Symphony No 5, and an extract from John Adams 's opera The Death of Klinghoffer.
