1946: the only survivors of the Drake, a passenger ship which sinks off North Africa, are Alec Ramsey , a young American boy, and a headstrong Arab stallion.
They are washed ashore on a desolate island, where Alec succeeds in taming and riding 'the Black'.
After the two are rescued and return to New York, the horse is kept in a cramped back yard. Restless and unhappy he escapes - with Alec in hot pursuit. with Screenplay by MELISSA MATHISON Produced by FRED ROOS and TOM STERNBERG
