SCIENCE. PURE AND APPLIED

on Third Programme

View in Radio Times

by V. B. Wigglesworth , F.R.S.
Quick Professor of Biology
In the University of Cambridge
In this talk, which is based on a lecture he gave at the Jubilee Conference of the Association of Applied Biologists, Professor Wigglesworth argues that the application of science to human needs calls for qualities in the investigator different from but not inferior to those required for research in pure science. Also, that to ensure the continued production of useful applications, pure science must be free to develop without restriction.
