From the Scriptures, from old authors, from poets of yesterday and today have been chosen a few of the passages in which they profess that behind the universe are Powers unseen, whose work is the adoration of God, and, at His bidding, the service of Man. To English people, their names, old in tradition, are known mainly from the Bible and from John Milton 's ' Paradise Lost '. This is the Festival of Archangels and Angels-from whom Man has learnt the song of Adoration.
