World Cup Grandstand Norway v Republic of Ireland

on BBC One London

The Republic of Ireland return to the Giants'
Stadium in New York, where they met Italy in their first match, in a game that decides their immediate World Cup destiny. There's live coverage as Norway provide the group E opposition, with a place in the last 16 hopefully there for the taking.
It was always goingto be a keenly fought group and as England have found on three relatively recent occasions. Norway are a difficult side to beat. It is also true that the Norwegians play a style similar to Jack Chariton 's republic side, where the aim is to get forward quickly.
Meanwhile in Washington the other game in the group between Italy and Mexico could also play a part in fashioning Irish hopes. Italy were pre-tournament favourites to win the group and there will be news of the match's progress with highlights to follow.
Introduced by Desmond Lynam , with Terry Venables and David O'Leary , commentary by John Motson , Liam Brady , Tony Gubba and Chris Waddle.
