to Tibet in 1904 Talk by Lt.-Col. F. M. Bailey
Fifty years ago this week, on August 3, 1904, Sir Francis Younghusband led a force under the military command of Major-General Sir James Macdonald into Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, and first opened up that country to western contact. Colonel Bailey, then a subaltern of twenty-one, was a member of the force. In this talk he recalls some personal experiences in the campaign.
