Recited by Flora Robson
The programme adapted and produced by Christopher Sykes based on a suggestion by Alexander Dru
(A new production of the programme originally broadcast on April 6, 1955)
This Meditation is one speech from Charles Peguy 's poetic drama Le Mystère de la Charite de 7eanne d'Arc which occurs when the young Joan goes to 'Madame Gervaise,' a Franciscan nun, to know the Church's teaching on the doctrine of the loss of souls. In answer Madame Gervaise recites the events of the Passion with reference to the words of the psalm: ' My God, my God, look upon me, why hast thou forsaken me? '
