What must we give to get it?
12-' Assuming that we can achieve peace and prosperity, what sort of society do we want ? ' Sir Richard Livingstone , E. M. Forster , and other speakers give their own answers
Sir Richard Livingstone , President of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, is one of the most brilliant of living writers on the classics. His ' The Greek Genius and its Meaning to Us ' is perhaps unrivalled as an interpretation of one society to another ; E. M. Forster , novelist, biographer, and critic, was also trained in the classic tradition. Many listeners will have read his * Howards End ' and ' A Passage to India ', or heard the radio dramatisation of his story ' The Celestial Omnibus.'
