The Saturday Thriller: Jigsaw

on BBC One London

Feature films with suspense, danger, excitement
Tonight: Jigsaw
Starring Jack Warner, Ronald Lewis
with Yolande Donlan, Michael Goodliffe

A murder in which neither killer nor victim can be identified presents the Brighton police with a formidable problem.
Jigsaw was made largely on location in Brighton with the cooperation of the local police force. Jack Warner - who took time out from Dixon of Dock Green - was upgraded to the rank of Inspector and played the detective in charge of a particularly baffling case.
Val Guest, one of Britain's most polished and professional film-makers, was responsible for screenplay, production, and direction. He takes the bold step of not using any background music in tonight's film, relying on his own directional ability, together with the skill of his sound crew, in using natural sound effects to create the necessary moments of tension. Three of Val Guest's other films - The Weapon, Expresso Bongo and The Day the Earth Caught Fire - have already been seen on BBC-tv.
