Hawgood , Professor of Modern History in the University of Birmingham, talks about the expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark , 150 years ago, to explore the headwaters of the Missouri river and to map a practicable route to the Pacific Ocean.
The talk is illustrated by readings from the new edition of The Journals of Lewis and Clark edited by Bernard DeVoto.
