There is no doubt that the 'Bears', coached by drunken pool cleaner Morris Buttermaker , are the worst team ever seen in the children's baseball league. Their parents are so embarrassed, they try to have the team disbanded - which makes Buttermaker unexpectedly keen. Vowing to get the 'Bears' to the top of the league, he seeks out 12-year-old Amanda, ace pitcher with a dynamite assortment of skills....
