In this talk, Dr. Henriques examines Steven Marcus's study of sexuality and pornography in mid-nineteenth-century England. The Other Victorians, with particular reference to Marcus's thesis about the polarity of the respectable and disreputable Victorians. Professor Henriques is Director of the Research Unit for the Study of Multiracial Societies at the University of Sussex, and author of Lore in Action and Prostitution and Society.
