A double bill of international boxing, introduced by Desmond Lynam. Frank Bruno v
John Emmen
Live from London's Royal Albert Hall, Frank Bruno, who was 30 last week, resumes his boxing career after a gap of over two-and-a-half years. Since his heroic but unsuccessful challenge for the World Heavyweight title, Bruno has been concentrating on affairs away from the ring. Now, after reassurances about his formerly troublesome eye problem, pantomime's "Genie of the Lamp" has had his own wish granted by the British Boxing Board of Control, and is all set for a third attempt at world title glory. Bruno's record of 32 wins in 35 fights compares favourably with that of his Dutch opponent John Emmen, who has had 16 wins in 18 professional contests.
John Mugabi v Gerald McClellan
Also on the bill, Ugandan-born Mugabi meets American McClellan for the vacant WBO Middleweight title.
